A fine half-century by the national player, Jerlani Robinson helped defending champions Tremors secure a comfortable win last weekend when the action continued in the Dominica Cricket Association Augustus Gregoire Premier Division Cricket Competition.
At the Botanic Gardens in Roseau, Tremors won the toss and invited Marinor Blasters to take the first knock. Gian Benjamin top scored with 34 runs as Blasters reached 134 all out in 38.2 overs. Kyle Cabey and Shervon Dorsette contributed 30 and 25 runs respectively.
Captain Martin Matthew was the pick of the bowlers for Tremors as he bagged six for 42. Malakai Xavier gave good support finishing with two for 12.
In reply, Tremors found the going tough and was all out for 141 in 33.4 overs. Veteran player Vivian Titre top scored with 42 and Malakai Xavier stroked 21. Mikael Delsol, batting at number 10, scored a valuable 20.
Bowling for Blasters, Shervon Dorsette was the most successful bowler taking four for 27.
With a deficit of seven runs on first innings and batting a second time, Blasters recovered from an overnight score of five runs for three wickets to reach 127 in 35.4 overs. Shervon Dorsette was again among the runs as he scored 52. Gian Benjamin scored 28.
Tyron Theophille took three for 15 and Martin Matthew took two for 50 bowling for Tremors.
Set a victory target on 121, Jerlani Robinson blasted 70 and Tyron Theophille hit 20 as Tremors reached 122 for two in 16.3 overs to win by eight wickets.
Trevor Mason and Neo Davis took one wicket each for Blasters.
In the other encounter played at the Benjamin Park in Portsmouth, Grand Bay Credit Union LTD Colts defeated St. Paul’s Academy by an innings and 79 runs. Scores, St. Paul’s Academy 192 and 36 all-out, Colts 307 for 5 declared.
