Investigations are on the way into a vehicular accident that took place at Morne Espanol earlier today.
According to a release from acting Inspector of Police Fixton Henderson, 92-year-old Arthur Thomas of 12th Street Canefield was driving a Honda CRV Registration number PI225 in a southernly direction along the the Dublanc public road along the Morne Espanol area when the vehicle ran off the road and collided with a cliff on the eastern side of the road.
“The vehicle was extensively damaged…there were two other occupants in the vehicle, Jeane Lloyd Thomas 68 years old, the driver’s wife, and Oliver Marie aged 72 years of Barbados residing at 12th Street Canefield,” he said.
According to him, the occupants were transported to the Reginald Fitzgerald Armour Hospital in Portsmouth, Arthur Thomas and his wife Jeane Thomas were examined by a medical doctor and pronounced dead.
“The third occupant Oliver Marie was transported to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) in a stable condition where he is receiving medical attention,” acting Inspector Henderson stated.
He also expressed condolences to the Thomas family on behalf of the rank and file of the Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force.
