Weather Outlook for Dominica and the Lesser Antilles

Valid from: 6:00 AM on Monday, October 14, 2024

Weak instability is expected to maintain an increased chance of showers and thunderstorms over the island during the morning. People in areas prone to flooding and landslides should exercise caution due to possible pockets of moderate showers. A ridge pattern is likely to become dominant thereafter, as a high-pressure system builds, producing a few showers with a slight chance of late-afternoon thunderstorms.

Saharan dust in varying concentrations is expected to persist over the next few days. People with respiratory sensitivities are advised to take the necessary precautions to avoid complications.

Meanwhile, a low-pressure system near the central Tropical Atlantic is being monitored for further development. This disturbance could approach the Leeward Islands by the end of the week.

Slight to moderate seas, with swells near 7 feet, are expected during the next 24 hours.
