DFP congratulates the JLP on its election victory

PRESS STATEMENT

The Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) extends warmest congratulations to Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness and the Jamaica Labour Party on their victory at the polls in the general elections held on Wednesday, September 3, 2025. The victory is a historic one for the Jamaica Labour Party under the leadership of Dr. Holness, since it is the first time that the JLP has secured a third term to govern the affairs of their beautiful country.

The results of Wednesday’s general elections are a clear indication that the majority of the Jamaican people are satisfied with the performance of the Dr. Andrew Holness-led JLP government for the past 2 terms and have chosen them to govern the affairs of the country for the next 5 years.

The DFP witnessed that there was a level of participatory democracy at play and wishes to commend the People’s National Party (PNP) for increasing its members in the parliament of Jamaica. The DFP also commends the people of Jamaica on both sides of the divide for their high level of enthusiasm and participation in the general elections.

The DFP also notes with optimism the democratic and electoral process in Jamaica, which exhibited a level of fairness and transparency, a process that should be emulated by other political parties throughout the region.

The Dominica Freedom Party will continue to work with the Jamaica Labour Party and other sister parties of the Caribbean Democrat Union to preserve democracy and foster good, accountable, and people’s people-oriented governments across the region.

The Dominica Freedom Party wishes Prime Minister Dr. Andrew Holness and his new government well as they prepare to govern their country for another 5-year term and encourages the people of Jamaica on both sides to work together in a bipartisan manner, as they continue to move their beautiful country forward.

Godspeed to the Government and people of Jamaica.
