DLP’s Vince Henderson wins Grand Bay By-Election

The waiting is over and the results came as no surprise in the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) stronghold of Grand Bay as its candidate Dr. Vince Henderson easily won the By-Election held on November 25, 2021.

That seat was made vacant after the death of Edward Registe who had won on a DLP ticket in the December 2019 general elections.

According to preliminary results Vince Henderson of the DLP polled 1,129 votes, Julius Gabriel (Independent) 161, and Clarenton B. Andrew 3.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit extended congratulations to Henderson saying, “we were always confident that the people of Grand Bay would remain with Labour.”

“We are very pleased with the results…it was a very special type of campaigning and was able to listen to the people and we will be formulating plans for them. As party leader I feel humbled by their loyalty, we will be there for them and make a difference for them and we will be building on what Pierre Charles, John Fabien, Nurse Charles and our fallen Comrade Edward Registe,” PM Skerrit told Kairi FM.

In his first reaction to the results, Henderson thanked the people of Grand Bay for his “resounding victory.”

“I am speechless, I want to thank the people of Grand Bay for their resounding victory, the work begins and I will continue, we have a number of projects and plans for the people. Grand Bay has always been steadfast with Labour…the useless and pointless demonstration and attacks my credibility.

He dismissed allegations from the opposition about his legality stating that if “they” the opposition had done their work they would have gotten the information. However, he says they are “free to go to court.”
