Dr Griffin Benjamin withdraws from UWP leadership race

With just two days to go before the United Workers Party (UWP’s) delegate’s conference on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at the Goodwill Parish Hall, one candidate has withdrawn from the race.

Dr. Griffin Benjamin was set to go head-to-head with Clement Marcelin and Dr. Thomson Fontaine but at the party’s radio programme on Q95 FM Radio, Dr. Benjamin announced that he was withdrawing from the race to give a ‘semblance of unity.”

The leadership contest will now be between Dr. Thomson Fontaine and Clement Marclelin. Information obtained is that the post of deputy political leader is expected to be “uncontested” and go to the incumbent Franciseca Joseph and the post of party President to former leader Lennox Linton.

No further information was provided and Nature Isle News (NIN) will follow this development and give further details when it becomes available.
