Leader of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has expressed “shock and sadness” at the sudden passing of the Parliamentary Representative for the Grand Bay Constituency Edward “Ed” Registe.
Registe was admitted to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital late on August 31, 2021, and passed away in the early hours of September 1, 2021.
In a very emotional interview on DBS radio with Programme Director of the radio station Ivona Jno Baptiste-Lugay, Prime Minister Skerrit described his death as “an extraordinary dark moment for us in and within the Dominica Labour Party (DLP), the Grand Bay constituency and by extension Dominica.”
“Ed Registe was a strong advocate for the little man and was a stalwart of the DLP, he had a passion for youth and people’s development giving his entire life to the service of Dominica, the Grand Bay constituency and the party,” the DLP leader stated.
He had to be composed during the interview as he broke down in tears in describing the late Ed Registe.
“He was a committed, dedicated and loyal individual he was one of my strongest and reliable allies within the DLP. He had a passion for what he did; he was a big guy in stature but very humble and determined guy,” Skerrit said.
