Three nominated for Grand Bay’s By-Election November 25, 2021

Despite the absence of the two main opposition political parties (United Workers Party) UWP and the Dominica Freedom Party (DFP) in the upcoming Grand Bay By-Election, two Independent candidates popular bus driver Julius “Handbag” Gabriel and Andrew Clarendon have been nominated along with Dr. Vince Henderson of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) as the candidates for November 25, 2021, By-Election.

That seat became vacant because of the death of John Fitzgerald Edward “Ed” Registe on September 1, 2021.

Speaking to Curtis Matthew News Editor of DBS radio, Henderson and Gabriel both expressed their confidence in the upcoming poll.

Describing himself as “a prodigal son” the career diplomat thanked the people of Grand Bay for welcoming him into the constituency.

“It’s been warm and surprisingly warm and I am thankful for that. For me, this is a serious mission and I have taken the opportunity over the past few weeks to meet and understand the reality of the people in the constituency….and is not something to be taken lightly,” Henderson said.

Julius “Handbag” Gabriel said he is “original” and knows the plight of the people of Grand Bay because he is a voter in the constituency. “I know all different parts in Grand Bay. no one has to take me around as I go to each house. We have taken a lot from the administration of Roosevelt Skerrit for the past 20 years and so we are sending a clear message now…Julius is not spending money am all about grassroots and have the constituency booming,” Gabriel said.
