Hundreds of the faithful from parishes across the island are expected to participate in a
Pilgrimage Saturday 17th May to the Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette in Pointe Michel as part of Family Week 2025.
The activity begins with a Prayer Walk at 9.00 am from the Holy Spirit Chapel in Loubiere.
This Pilgrimage offers an opportunity for intense prayer for families and the nation, and will
feature Healing, Empowerment, and Anointing sessions for families and end with a Grand
Eucharistic Celebration.
Family Week in the Diocese of Roseau began on Sunday, 11th May, with Mass and Mother’s
Day celebrations where exemplary mothers were recognized. During the week, there were several Family Enrichment sessions for varied family types (married couples, single parents, widowed, divorced, common law unions, and singles). Other activities included Family Appreciation Day, Family Fun Evening, and participation of families in a Holy Hour.
Family week is an opportunity to celebrate families.
In celebrating families, support is provided for families to become ministries themselves. In this way, the family becomes a dynamic domestic church formed and equipped to consecrate Dominica and the world to Christ, and to serve as the primary engine of evangelization and positive social change. This intense focus on the family will also serve to address the many social ills that our country is confronted with, as the family continues to be a primary agent of socialization and the place where hope is nourished.
Family week 2025 in the Diocese of Roseau forms part of activities for the Jubilee Year 2025- 2026, being celebrated under the theme “Pilgrims of Hope”. The Family Life Commission and the Family Life Units of the various parishes are coordinating Family Week. The theme for Family Week 2025 is “Our Families, Our Hope”.
