Bishop of Roseau His Lordship Gabriel Malzaire has lauded the work of parish priest of St. Luke’s Fr. Peter Wamutitu when he officially commissioned the “Prayer Resurrection Garden” in Pointe Michel.
“I am extremely happy at the work of Fr. Peter, when he contacted me and told me about the prayer garden, I went along with him and give him my fullest support,” Bishop Malzaire stated.
According to Fr. Peter, he was having his usual devotions when the idea came to him about planting flowers in his back yard but as the days progressed, it became clear to him that the place needs to be developed into a “prayer garden.”
“I prayed about it and things started to take shape and things went into shape quickly after discussing it and laying out the plans,” he said.
With no money, Fr. Peter then set out to achieve his objective and the idea was embraced by persons who started to make donations and give the required help.
The Prayer Resurrection Garden consists of the stations of the cross, a chaplet along with a crucifix of the Lord, it also has a rosary and a statue of our Blessed Mother.
Last week, despite the inclement weather, pilgrims came to the National Shrine of Our Lady of La Salette where Bishop Malzaire was the main celebrant of a mass to bless and officially open the Prayer Resurrection Garden.
He called on pilgrims to make use of this “holy space” where they can come with family to pray the rosary and seek divine intervention.
This is beautiful, in concept and execution.
