DFA hoping for green light for finals

The Dominica Football Association (DFA) has tentatively set Sunday, 22nd November 2020 for the finals of the 2020 Recovery Knock Out Cup.

The encounter between Promex Harlem United and Happi Bath Estate FC was brought to a premature halt after the Police stopped the game in the 13th minute for breach of COVID-19 safety protocols.

While the DFA intends to conclude the finals this Sunday, the final verdict rests with the Police. Reliable sources have informed this publication that officials of the DFA and the Police were expected to tour the facility on Friday, 20th November 2020, and to iron out the details and conditions under which the encounter will take place.

At this point, it is uncertain if fans will be allowed into the stadium to view the game or if the players will play in an empty stadium. It is also not clear if the game will continue or if it will be replayed in its entirety.

Meanwhile, Central Cooperative Credit Union LTD Dublanc FC secured three goals to one victory at home on Thursday evening.

In the only match carded in the Division One League and played at the Almond Park in Dublanc, Macconey Royer found the back of the net twice as his club brushed aside an early set back.  Royer’s goals came in the 18th and 68th minutes after Kyle Letang put his club in the lead when he converted in the first minute of play.

Felix Anselm scored the other goal for Dublanc FC in the 33rd minute of play to give his club the lead and the advantage heading into the interval.

When the action continues this Friday, Harlem United will take on ACS Pottersville Tarish United FC from 6 pm at Dublanc in a Group One encounter. The evening’s other fixture will feature East Central FC and LA Starz FC from 6 pm at the Benjamin Park in Portsmouth in Group Two.

On Saturday, three matches are carded. In Group One, Police Sports Club will take on Mahaut Soca Strikers at the Newtown Playing Field while at the Almond Park in Dublanc, Exodus FC will go in search of their second straight win when they come up against Busta Warner FC. Both Group One encounters are scheduled to kick off from 3:30 pm. At the Benjamin Park in Portsmouth, LA Enterprises Bombers FC will do battle against WE United FC from 4 pm in a Group Two encounter.
