DFA to convene a special meeting as football actions sets to resume

As the date for the resumption of competitive football draws near, the Dominica Football Association (DFA) is stepping up its preparations so as to ensure a successful return to the pitch.

Since the green light was given by the Government for sporting activities to recommence, the DFA had indicated that its Premier League will kick off on Saturday, 25th July 2020 at the Windsor Park Sports Stadium.

With the resumption of football globally after the COVID-19 pandemic, the International Football Association Board has made a few amendments to the Laws of the Game, particularly as it relates to Law 3.

It is with this in mind that the Dominica Football Association will convene a special meeting on Friday, July 17, 2020, from 5:30 pm at the Football House in Bath Estate. At the meeting, club representatives will be brief on the amendments made to Law 3 by members of the Referees Department.

The DFA will also take the opportunity to update the clubs on the various protocols that will be in place when the action kicks off on the 25th.

Under the amended law, competition and league organizers have the option of utilizing a total of 5 substitutes as opposed to 3 substitutes which existed prior to COVID -19. The decision was taken by IFAB on 8th May 2020. The main reason for the temporary amendment to Law-3 was the impact of the welfare of the players in competitions being played in a condensed period and in different weather conditions.

All clubs are asked to send one representative to the special meeting.
