Dominica fails in its first outing at Paris Olympics

National Swimmer Warren Lawrence came up short in his bid to qualify for the semi-finals of the Men’s 50-meter heats at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympic Games.

He is the son of former Olympic Swimmer Woodrow Woody Lawrence who represented Dominica at the 1996 Atlanta Games and became the first Dominican swimmer to participate in the Olympics since the 2000 Sydney Games.

Swimming in heat number 4, he swam his way to a time of 24.67 seconds, finishing in 5th place in the very competitive heat.

His 24.67 seconds, was just a little behind his personal best.

The heat was won by Thierry Bollin of Switzerland who swam in a time of 22.95 seconds.

The Top 16 swimmers advanced to the semi-finals.

Warren’s 24.67 seconds was good enough for 5th place in his heat and meant that he finished 52nd overall out of the 73 other competitors.
