Family members, the sporting fraternity, and others pay last respect to Dominica’s first Prime Minister Patrick R John

It was a day of missed emotions as Dominica’s from various walks of life including the sporting fraternity file past the Casket of the late Patrick Roland John Dominica’s first Prime Minister as it lies in State at the Windsor Park Forecourt.

Among those who filed past his Casket were the President of the Dominica Football Association (DFA) Glen Etienne and his executive and also the President of the Dominica Netball Association (DNA) Regina Walsh.

The general public also got an opportunity to view his body. John led Dominica into independence from Great Britain on November 3, 1978.

DFA’s President Glen Etienne hailed the late Patrick John who held the post of President of DFA for many years as “a champion of the sport”. The DFA building is named the “Patrick John Football House” and Etienne stated that his executive will be looking at other ways and means to further honor the contributions made to the development of the sport of football by Patrick John.
