Former national batsman Ezra Green rolled back cricketing years

Former national batsman Ezra Green rolled back the years as he put on an all-round performance that led his team to a commanding victory in the 2023 Dominica Cricket Association National Cooperative Credit Union Premiere Division League.

In the only match played over the weekend, Marinor Blasters picked up their first win of the season with a comprehensive 10 wickets win over St. Paul’s Cricket Academy at the Botanic Gardens.

St. Paul’s Cricket Academy batted first after winning the toss and scored 164. Micah Joseph top-scored with 64 runs and Casimir Benjamin added 30 to the total. Bowling for Blasters, Ezra Green finished with four for 47.  Green was ably supported by Joel Durand and Gilon Tyson with two for 33 and two for 49 respectively.

At their turn at the crease, Blasters reached 306 all out. Green led the way with 68 runs. Ernsio Fontaine scored 45 and Gilon Tyson hit an unbeaten 50. Sherwin Labassiere with four for 65 was the pick of the bowlers for the St. Paul’s Cricket Academy. 

Trailing by 142 runs in the first innings and batting a second time, St. Paul’s Cricket Academy scored 142 all out. Micah Joseph with 38 and Casimir Benjamin with 26 runs were the top scorers. 

For Marinor Blasters, Ezra Green bagged three for 35 and S. Dorsette took five for 16. Set a victory target of one run to win, Blasters reached one without loss. The final scores in the match, were St. Paul’s Cricket Academy 164 and 142 all out, Marinor Blasters 306 all out, and one without loss. Ezra Green was named as the player of the match.
