One club from the South East of the island has moved one step closer to competing in the top flight of football in Dominica.
After several years of trying to gain promotion to the Premier Division, LA Stars FC of La Plaine is closer to realizing that dream.
After qualifying in third place in Group Two, LA Stars FC booked their spot in the semi-final after a hard-fought victory over the Police Sports Club on Wednesday evening at the Almond Park in Dublanc. Cheston Prosper scored one goal for LA Stars FC while the other goal came via the own goal route. Maxine Nelson scored for the Police SC.
In the other quarter-final match up played on Wednesday at the Benjamin Park in Portsmouth, defending champions Harlem United edged out Central Cooperative Credit Union LTD Dublanc FC by one goal to nil.
The lone goal which separated the clubs was scored by Tyrese Jno Baptiste in the 25th minute of play.
When the action continues this evening, Middle Ham United FC will look to boost their chances of returning back to the Premiere Division when they come up against LA Enterprises Bombers FC from 6pm at the Almond Park in Dublanc.
The last quarterfinal encounter will be contested between East Central FC and Belfast Estate Mahaut Soca Strikers FC at the Benjamin Park in Portsmouth from 6 pm on Friday.
