Nanthan appointed chairman

After announcing a temporary closure of its doors and the dissolution of its board of directors, for the purpose of restructuring, the Dominica Cricket Academy is once again set to resume operations, albeit under different management.

Former Cricket West Indies vice president and former president of the Dominica Cricket Association, Emanuel Nanthan is the man charged with finding a pathway for the entity.

A few weeks ago, speculation was rife that the closure of the Academy was an attempt to discredit and snub Nanthan, who founded and funded the Academy during his tenure at the helm of local cricket. However, this allegation was quickly debunked by the president of the Dominica Cricket Association Glen Joseph, who, at the time, indicated that the closure was part of a bigger picture to restructure cricket on the island. He denied that the closure was an attack on Nanthan.

With cricket activities set to resume, Nanthan will chair a 5-member committee which also includes Kenneth Green and Sherma Dalrymple. Current members of the Dominica Cricket Association executive Kevin James and Jesse Bardouille are also part of the management team.

Meanwhile, the Dominica Cricket Academy is set to welcome another cohort. However, the potential entrants will participate in two trial matches on 3rd and 10th October 2020 at Benjamin Park in Portsmouth.

Those invited to participate in the trial matches include:

Tyrese Leblanc, Kyron Phillip, Quinton Hillaire, Neo Davis, Ashton Auguiste, Kishawn Viville, Savio Anselm, Mickel Reviere, Amielle Gilbert, Jordel Adrien, Kyne George, Ajanim Tavernier, Omarie James, Arman Bruno, Shaheim  Ceasar, Ashwan Lockhart, Yazee Graneau, Yawani Regis, Jason Vidal, Mikael Delsol, Kobie Moreau, Marlon Maxim, Dennick Ryan, Coneil Toussaint, Joel Durand, Kenney Edwards, Shakeem Thomas, Sherquan Toussaint, Shawn Hamilton, Morel Burton, Clemenson Le Blanc, Jeremiah Joseph and Stephan Pascal.
