Premier Division football resumes

After being suspended for almost four months, due to the COVID-19 pandemic competitive football will resume this weekend.

The Dominica Football Association (DFA) Premier Division league will continue on Saturday, 25th July 2020 with one match scheduled for the Windsor Park Sports Stadium (WPSS). In the day’s lone encounter, Petro Caribe Pointe Michel will do battle against Happi Bath Estate in a middle of the table clash. The action in this fixture will kick off at 4 pm.

On Sunday, in the first match of a doubleheader at the same venue, former champions Exodus FC will go in search of their first point of the season when they battle Belfast Estate Mahaut Soca Strikers from 2 pm.

In the day’s second encounter, from 4 pm, newcomers East Central FC will clash with former champions Central Cooperative Credit Union LTD Dublanc FC at 4 pm.

All fans wishing to watch the games will be asked to wear masks and will have their temperature taken before gaining access to the WPSS.

Meanwhile, with the first round almost completed, defending champions Sagicor South East leads the points table with 19 points. Newcomers to the Premier Division, WE United is in second position on 16 points. Former champions, Harlem Sports and Community Club sits in the third position with 15 points.

Dublanc FC and Petro Caribe Pointe Michel occupy fourth and fifth places respectively with 13 points each. However, Dublanc sits ahead of Pointe Michel by virtue of a better goal difference.

The bottom half of the table sees Happi Bath Estate in sixth position with 10 points. East Central with 9 points occupies the seventh spot. LA Enterprise Bombers from Portsmouth has a total of 5 points followed by Belfast Estate Mahaut Soca Strikers FC on three points. Exodus is at the bottom on the table, having lost all its matches to date.

After this round of competition, all the ten clubs would have played a total of 8 matches.
