Referee’s Department holds successful training in Portsmouth

The Referee’s Department of the Dominica Football Association (DFA) under the direction of FIFA Instructor Nehron Williams on Saturday, July 10. 2021 held a training workshop for persons interested in becoming referees.

Over 10 participants from the north took part in the one-day session conducted by FIFA Instructors Daniel Leslie, Carlisle Jno Baptiste, Nehron Williams, and John Durand. They were also given a session from FIFA’s physical instructor Christina Sobers.

Williams urged the participants to make good use of the training and this he said was just “an introduction to the laws of the game.”

A number of former and present national players took part in the session which was very interactive.

Clayton Munro of the referee’s department also shared some thoughts on the session. He urged them to “be serious at becoming referees because the game needs them.”

Those present expressed delight at the sessions conducted. Similar sessions are expected to be held in Roseau at Castle Bruce all aimed at a referee’s recruitment drive.
