Tremors and Colts to seek cricket supremacy

The Windsor Park Sports Stadium will come alive this Saturday and Sunday with cricket action when the Dominica Cricket Association Augustus Gregoire Premier Division League reaches its grand finale.

In a highly anticipated matchup, defending champions Go Sports Tremors and Nanthan Insurance Grand Bay Colts will battle for championship glory.

The two- day finals will feature several players who have represented the island at the sub-regional level as well as those who have gone on to play first-class cricket.

Speaking ahead of the match, Colts captain Lex Magloire said that his team is ready for the encounter and that his players will give their all. Magloire singled out players such as Alick Athanaze, Alvinson Jolly, Jahseon Alexander, Courtney Anselm, and young Yawani Registe to come good with both bat and ball.

On the other hand, Jerlani Robinson, in his first season for Tremors indicated that his team will be expecting more players to “come to the party”.

Malakai Xavier, the tall lanky off-spinner is one of the players to watch. His accuracy and consistency will pose problems and may prove too much for the Colts batsmen. Similarly, a lot will rest on the shoulders of Alick Athanaze, who is expected to come good with the bat for the Colts.

Tremors advanced to the championship match with first innings honors over Marinor Blasters while Colts defied the odds and booked their spot in the finals with first-innings points over the more fancied Nagico Northern Stars.
