St. John’s Antigua-The West Indies Players’ Association (WIPA) commends former West Indies fast bowler, Curtly Ambrose, on being awarded an honorary doctorate.
Sir Curtly Ambrose received an Honorary Doctor of Laws degree from the University of the West Indies (UWI) Five Islands Campus on October 12, 2024, for his immense contribution to sports in the West Indies. Ambrose claimed 405 Test wickets and 225 One Day International wickets in a career that spanned over a decade. Sir Curtly continues to serve the sport by being a coach and commentator.
WIPA President and CEO, Wavell Hinds, said, “I extend whole-hearted congratulations to Sir Curtly Ambrose on receiving an Honorary Doctorate. Ambrose is one of the pillars of West Indies cricket, having had a remarkable career. He is a master at his craft and is certainly deserving of such recognition. I wish him continued success in his future endeavours.”
