American Airlines makes inaugural flight from Miami to Dominica

American Airlines has made its inaugural direct flight from Miami International into Dominica and onboard that flight was Tourism Minister Denise Charles.

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit was on hand to welcome the flight into the Douglas Charles airport calling it “an important chapter in the life of Dominica”.

“This government continues to upgrade the facility in Dominica, upgrading the airport and ensuring that things are done properly,” he said.

He heaped praises on all those responsible for making the day a reality including Chief Executive Officer of the Dominica Air & Seaport Authority (DASPA) Benoit Bardouille.

Skerrit also thanked Tourism Minister Denise Charles and the US Ambassador based in Barbados. He also spoke of the tourism destination in Dominica and also the hotel space and capacity.

“We are determined to see the international airport that is why we are forging ahead with this very important project…we look forward to a long and fruitful relationship with American Airlines,” he said.

Skerrit also labeled the direct flight from Miami to Dominica as ” a game-changer” and says he was looking forward to the continued good relationship with all the partners involved.
