Synopsis: A tropical wave is affecting the area

Forecast for Today:

Cloudy to overcast at times and slightly hazy with scattered light to moderate showers and a slight chance of isolated thunderstorms

Forecast for Tonight:

Partly cloudy to occasionally cloudy with a few showers

Wind: Easterly to East south easterly @ 15 to 30 km/h with higher gusts near showers

Sea Conditions: Moderate in open water

Waves: 1.5 to 2.0 meters or 5.0 to 7.0 feet.

Warning/Advisory: Small craft operators and sea bathers on the east coast should exercise some caution.

Weather Outlook for Dominica and the Lesser Antilles

A tropical wave is expected to generate an increase in cloudiness with showers and possible thunderstorms across the area during today, with some weak instability lingering thereafter.

Meanwhile, an approaching tropical wave in the central Tropical Atlantic is being monitored for further development and is expected to affect the island from Saturday into Sunday. Conditions are expected to become more favourable for development and this system is likely to become a tropical depression by the weekend. Residents are advised to monitor the progress of this system.

People in areas prone to flooding, landslides, and falling rocks are advised to be on alert during these events.

Moderate seas are anticipated during the next 24 hours with waves peaking near 7.0ft. Small craft operators and sea bathers on the east coast should exercise some caution.
