Weather Outlook for Dominica and the Lesser Antilles

Valid from 6:00 AM on Wednesday, July 21, 2021

A high-pressure system is expected to be dominant across the area during the next 24 to 36 hours producing breezy conditions. Patches of low-level clouds moving within the wind flow are expected to result in occasional cloudiness and brief showers during the period. Meanwhile, a tropical wave located in the central tropical Atlantic is expected to approach the area by late Thursday into Friday.

Dust haze concentration is expected to persist throughout the week in varying concentrations resulting in a reduction in visibility. People with respiratory sensitivities should take the necessary precautions to avoid complications.

Moderate seas are anticipated during the next 24 hours with waves peaking near 8.0ft along the eastern coastline. A small craft advisory is in effect for above normal seas on the east coast.

Please note that a greater degree of cloudiness, more frequent rainfall, and higher rainfall amounts are normally experienced across the east coast and interior of Dominica.
