Weather Outlook for Dominica and the Lesser Antilles

Valid from: 6:00 AM on Wednesday, September 29, 2021

A trough system associated with Hurricane Sam is expected to affect mainly the southern portion of the Lesser Antilles during the next 24 hours. Occasional cloudiness with localized showers and possible isolated thunderstorms can be expected during the afternoon. Light winds will also be evident.

An increase in moisture and instability is expected across Dominica from Thursday into Friday. People in areas prone to flooding, landslides, and falling rocks should remain on alert.

Meanwhile, two areas of low pressure located in the eastern Atlantic have a medium to high chance of becoming tropical depressions during the next few days. The Met. Service continues to monitor the progress of these systems.

Moderate to rough seas are anticipated during the next 24 hours with swells peaking near 10.0ft during today, along the eastern coastline. A Small Craft Warning and A High Surf Advisory are in effect for above normal seas. Small craft operators and sea-bathers are advised to stay out of the water. People living near or traversing coastal areas should exercise caution.
