Retired High Court Judge appointed to Court of Appeal of Barbados

Newly appointed to the Court of Appeal in Barbados Justice Victoria Charles-Clarke

Former High Court Judge in Dominica Victoria Charles Clarke will take up a new appointment on the Bench in Barbados as a Court of Appeal Judge.

According to a release from the Government Information Service in Barbados, Justice Charles-Clarke will be one of three new Appeal Court Judges and will take up her appointment effective July 1, 2024.

Charles-Clarke served as Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) in St. Lucia for 12 years. Before that, she was a magistrate at District Courts in Saint Lucia from 1992-1997, and later became the registrar of the Supreme Court and served almost three years in that position. In 2002, she was appointed DPP and remained in that position until her retirement in March 2016 when she was appointed a High Court Judge assigned to Dominica.

In 2019, she was transferred to Grenada where she served for just under five years. She retired in May 2023.
