Weather Outlook for Dominica and the Lesser Antilles

Valid from: 6:00 AM on Wednesday, July 3, 2024

A strong tropical wave is expected to affect the area during the next 24 hours. This is expected to generate cloudy to overcast conditions with showers which could be moderate to heavy at times with thunderstorms and gusty winds. An increase in shower activity is expected this afternoon. A flood watch is in effect from noon today to 6 am on Thursday. As a result, people in areas prone to flooding, landslides, and falling rocks are advised to exercise extreme caution.

Moderate to rough seas can be expected in open water with waves peaking near 10ft during the period. People living near the coast are advised to exercise caution due to onshore breaking wave action. Small craft operators are advised to remain in port. Sea bathers are advised to stay out of the water.

A varying concentration of dust haze is expected over the next few days. People with respiratory sensitivities are advised to take the necessary precautions to avoid complications.
