The WE United Football Club has filed an official complaint to the Dominica Football Association (DFA) seeking what they term as a “request for resolution regarding the match on March 21, 2025.”
In its letter signed by president of the club Clevon Vidal and copied to Nehron Williams of the Referees Department, competitions coordinator Judah Corriette and the match official Gabriel Ceasar the letter is seeking compensation for “all match day expenses including transportation cost for both players and supporters” for there game on March 21, 2025 with Pointe Michel FC that was called off due to “a colour clash.”
According to the letter, they were “the home team in that game,” and their designated home kit colours are “red and white.”
They explained that knowing that Pointe Michel FC colours are also “red and white and red and black and knowing the colours of Pointe Michel, (Yvette Laurent) WE United team Manager contacted the competition coordinator days before to inquire about Pointe Michel’s kit option and that WE United could wear an alternate “blue and white kits to avoid a clash.”
However, they were informed that Pointe Michel has “an away kit which is different in colour from their home kit and will be using their away kit for the game.”
Armed with that information, WE United stated that they proceeded to the match with their primary “red and white kit.” The letter went on to state that after arriving at the ground and doing their warm-ups they observed Pointe Michel in a “red and black kit” and went on to discuss the matter with the coordinator and Match Commissioner.
The match officials inspected both teams and never raised the issue regarding “uniform clash,” but when the teams lined up to get to the field, a brief meeting was summoned and informed about the colour clash and that the game was “called off as a result.”
“WE United FC adhered to all the DFA’s guidelines and made every effort to prevent a uniform clash despite being the home team. Given that we followed the rules and took proactive steps to avoid the situation, we respectfully request that WE United FC be awarded the three (3) points and three (3) goals for this match in line with DFA regulations,” the letter stated.
When contacted, DFA officials said they would issue a statement on the matter later.
