
The Commonwealth of Dominica Police Force (CDPF) says that they are investigating a fatal vehicular road traffic collision which occurred at approximately 10:10 pm on Sunday, August 9, 2026, on the E.O Leblanc Highway in the vicinity of the Canefield Airport.
According to a report from the police, “The deceased has been identified as 50-year-old male Joseph Wayland of Fond Cole.” “
“Preliminary investigation indicates that Wayland was driving a black Toyota Noah minibus in a southerly direction along the E.O Leblanc Highway, when the vehicle collided with a wall on the eastern side of the road, near the Canefield Gospel Mission Church. The vehicle then flipped over onto its right side. Personnel from the Fire and Ambulance services responded and extricated Wayland from beneath the vehicle. He was transported to the Dominica China Friendship Hospital for medical attention, where he was examined and pronounced dead by a doctor.”
His body was then taken to a funeral home pending an autopsy. “The CDPF continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and expresses its sincere condolences to the family and friends of the deceased,” the police stated.
