Tree trunk on Newtown Public Road poses a danger to drivers

Vehicle owners driving along the Newtown/Citronier Public Road around the former Anchorage Hotel are concerned that a tree trunk in the area is dangerous and “no action is being taken to remove that obstruction.”

The tree trunk, is a result of a fallen tree in that area that was cut to allow vehicles to pass however, the tree trunk that is causing an obstruction has not been moved.

Speaking to Nature Isle News (NIN) several vehicle owners who are traversing that route are expressing concerns that although the matter has been brought to the “relevant authorities” no action has been taken.

“The tree trunk is a clear obstruction and a danger to drivers, this has been brought to the attention of all those concerned and no one seems to be taking heed of the danger it poses,” one driver told NIN.

Two other drivers explained that driving south puts you in the direct path of the tree trunk and you “must veer to the right to avoid hitting it and puts you in danger of causing an accident with oncoming vehicles.”

“They the authorities are aware of the situation and it’s over a month now and nothing is being done, as usual when an accident happens (God forbid) in that area that is when they will want to take action,” they stated.

Nature Isle News (NIN) has been trying to get information on the situation but so far has not been successful.
