Another prominent Dominican attorney has been appointed to chair the Electoral Commission of Dominica.
Nature Isle News (NIN) can confirm that Duncan G. Stowe will replace Gerald D. Burton as chairperson.
Stowe is expected to be sworn in on Monday, October 19, 2020, by President of Dominica Charles Savarin.
According to the Constitution, the government makes two appointments and the opposition two while the chairperson is appointed by the President of Dominica acting on his own deliberate judgment.
The government nominees are Alick Lawrence and Lennox Lawrence while Wayne James and Hillary Shillingford are the opposition’s nominees.
When contacted for his comments on his appointment Stowe replied “no comments.”
