Questions are being raised as to why American Jonathan Lehrer who along with American Robert Thomas (Rob) Synder charged for the double murder of Daniel and Dominique was at his property on Saturday, December 9, 2023.
Both men made their first court appearances on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, before Chief Magistrate Candia Carette George where the murder charges were read to them and they were subsequently remanded at the Stock Farm Prison the island’s lone prison situated about half a mile from the capital city Roseau.
However, we can confirm, that on Saturday, December 9, 2023, police came to the prison and went with Jonathan.
“I would like to know what is going on in the country…yesterday (Saturday, December 9, 2023), while leaving work, I witnessed something that upset me deeply,” an eyewitness stated.
“Sitting with feet propped up in the comfort of his yard surrounded by police was none other than double murder accused Jonathan Lehrer. Not only did he appear unremorseful, he also dared to wave and taunt at staff passing by.”
“I would like to know what is going on. how can a double murder accused leave remand and visit his home? does this make sense?”
Ever since the incident, I have been traumatized, I no longer feel safe going to work, and now to have to look at this creature…what is going on in this country,” the individual asked.
Prison officials confirmed that on Saturday, December 9, 2023, police came to the prison and took the double murder accused Jonathan away.
“We don’t know where he was taken to by the police, but he was out,” prison officials confirmed.
What seems even more confusing and vexing, is the fact that legal individuals associated with the double murder accused Jonathan had no idea of his removal from the prison on Saturday, December 9, 2023.
The question remains who permitted him to be “out of the prison on Saturday, December 9, 2023…was it a court order and why were his lawyers not informed…
Both men are presently at the Stock Farm Prison.
Meantime, police have confirmed that as part of the ongoing investigations, Jonathan was taken from prison on an order of the Magistrate’s Court.
According to police, they believe that he (Jonathan) has hidden firearms so they applied for and obtained a search warrant for his home to search illegal firearms.
Aided by the help of new police sniffer dogs, they went into the area with Jonathan and got several spent ammunition shells.
Investigations they say continue into the matter.
