Christmas/End of Year Message 2024
Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit
Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Dominica
Fellow Dominicans,
As we gather with family and friends this Christmas season, let us take a moment to reflect on the blessings we have received and the resilience that has guided us through another year. Christmas is a season of hope, gratitude, and unity-a beautiful reminder of God’s boundless love through the gift of His Son, Jesus Christ.
This year has been marked by both challenges and triumphs. Yet, through it all, we have persevered as one people, united by our shared commitment to building a stronger, more prosperous Dominica.
In 2024, we marked significant progress on transformative projects that hold the promise of a brighter future. The ground-breaking of our International Airport signals a new chapter in global connectivity for Dominica, while the upcoming completion of the Electricity Transmission Network and the Geothermal Energy Plant advances our commitment to energy sustainability. Across the island, infrastructure improvements like the Loubiere to Grand Bay road project will enhance accessibility, and the construction of new schools in Sineku, Thibaud, Bellevue Chopin, Tete Morne, Calibishie as well as the Dominica Grammar School, and the new Goodwill Secondary School reflects our steadfast dedication to education and the future of our children.
We celebrated moments of national pride, such as Thea Lafond-Gadson’s remarkable accomplishments on the global stage, which showcased the incredible potential of Dominicans. Additionally, as we commemorated 20 years of diplomatic relations with China, we reflected on the tangible benefits this partnership has brought to our people-from developments in health and infrastructure to enhanced facilities across the nation.
These accomplishments are more than just government projects; they are acts of service. They reflect the tireless dedication of your government to improving lives, creating opportunities, and ensuring that no one is left behind.
As we embrace the warmth and joy of the season, let us also remember those in need. May we reach out with love, kindness, and generosity to our neighbours, fostering the unity and care that make us strong as a people. Together, we can face the challenges ahead with confidence, knowing that our shared commitment will continue to yield progress.
As we prepare to welcome 2025, I encourage you to look to the New Year with renewed zeal and excitement. Let us be inspired by what we have accomplished together and motivated by the promise of what lies ahead.
On behalf of my family, the Government of Dominica, and the Dominica Labour Party, I wish you a joyful and peaceful Christmas. May the season bring you comfort, hope, and blessings in abundance, and may the year to come be filled with opportunity, unity,y and prosperity for every Dominican.
Let us move forward together, with faith in God and trust in each other. Get ready for 2025—it promises to be a year of continued progress and possibilities.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Hon. Roosevelt Skerrit
Prime Minister
