Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has met with the executive of the Police Welfare Association (PWA). Present at that meeting was the Chairman of the PWA Corporal Jefferson Drigo and his executive.
Also in attendance were Chief of Police Daniel Carbon his deputy Lincoln Corbette and Assistant Deputy Commissioner Davidson Valaire Minister of National Security Rayburn Blackmoore, and the Cabinet Secretary.
Nature Isle News (NIN) can confirm that the meeting was held in a very cordial atmosphere with the PWA reiterating its position for better working conditions for its members.
The issue of payment for accumulated rest days also came up for discussion with the Prime Minister and Minister of Finance promising to further assist the law officers in ensuring more comfortable accommodation in their working environment.
In his Independence Day address in 2022, Prime Minister Skerrit promised to pay Police Officers for accumulated rest days. He assured them that come December 2022 the monies will be paid.
