On January 13, 2022, PAHO Country Programme Specialist Anneke Wilson and the British High Commissioner to Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean His Excellency Scott Furssedonn-Wood handed over the recently refurbished Grand Bay Smart Health Centre to the Ministry of Health, Wellness and New Health Investment.

The project was funded to a tune of US$1,376,254.64 dollars by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. The project aims to bridge the gap between climate-proofing, energy efficiency, and disaster risk reduction in Dominica’s health facilities.
Five Health Centres have been upgraded to Smart Health Facilities namely, La Plane, Portsmouth, Massacre, Trafalgar and Grand Bay to a total investment of US$3.6 Million dollars.
