Grand Fond man accuses his girlfriend of being with her Ex and slashes his vehicle tires and breaks windscreen

A Grand Fond man Anderson Aldrine George faces time in jail if he fails to pay fines imposed by the court for his indiscretion.

He pleaded guilty to two charges of malicious damage to the windscreen and tires of the vehicle.

He was asked to pay the amount of $4,050.00 by May 31, 2023, in default 3 months in jail. He also has to pay $340.00 by August 31, 2023, or in default 3 months in jail. The court also imposed a one-year suspended sentence on him and he was also barred from entering the premises of Ogarro for one year in default he will go to prison for one year.

FACTS IN CASE

Anderson Aldrine George Male 34yrs of Grand Fond Charged with Malicious Damage.

The complainant Erick Ogarro male adult of Roger Canefield a builder who lives on his own at Roger Canefield. He owns a small bar called under the tree which is located about 50ft from his house at Canefield. He also owns two vehicles registration numbers PB715 and 5151 which are parked in front of the bar.

Defendant: Anderson Aldrine George male 34yrs of Grand Fond. He lives on his own in the Government Apartment at Grand Fond. He is self-employed doing Construction.

Defendant Anderson Aldrine George is in a relationship with Sharnel Cuffy who is an Ex-girlfriend of the Complainant. Sometime in the morning of Sunday 29th, 2023 Defendant Anderson Aldrine George and his girlfriend Sharnel Cuffy were involved in some altercation in the streets of Roseau. The defendant Anderson Aldrine George accused his Girlfriend of still having a relationship with the Complainant Erick Ogarro.

Later that Sunday afternoon the defendant Anderson Aldrine George went in search of his girlfriend at the home of her stepfather on Independent Street in Roseau. The Defendant not seeing or able to speak to his girlfriend at the home of her stepfather started making noise. The defendant went on to say, “Erick have my woman at his home I going up Roger and get my woman what ever happen! Happen”.

Sometime after the defendant was done making noise outside of his girlfriend’s stepfather’s house, he went up to Roger Canefield armed with a cutlass and a knife.

On reaching Roger the defendant went to the bar area where the Complainant had his vehicles registration number PB715 and 5151 parked. At that time the complainant who, half an hour earlier, had closed his bar was sitting in his house.

The complainant could clearly see the bar and his vehicles from where he was sitting in his house.

While sitting in his house the complainant heard a banging noise coming from the bar area. The complainant looked out to see what was causing the noise and from the light coming from the street light, which is opposite the Bar, noticed the defendant with a cutlass in his hand slamming against the left side glass window.

The defendant then took a stone and throw it at the front windshield of Jeep registration number PB715. The defendant then took a knife he was carrying and prick the left front and left rear Tires of Jeep registration number 5151. On seeing the defendant causing damage to his vehicles the complainant ran towards the defendant. The defendant on noticing the complainant approaching him ran away from the vehicle with the cutlass in his hand. The complaint gave chase but the defendant made good his escape.

The Complainant then wind.- to check his vehicles and noticed that the front

windshield and left side glass window of Jeep registration number PB715 and the left front and left rear tires of Jeep registration number 5151 were damaged. The complainant then went to the Roseau Police Station and reported the incident and Constable Ruskin Fontaine of the General Investigations was detailed to investigate.

On Wednesday 01st February 2023 Constable Ruskin Fontaine met the defendant in Roseau and informed him of the report that he was investigating and cautioned him. Constable Ruskin Fontaine also informed the defendant of his right to have his Attorney present at any time during the investigations or to hold private communication with him at any time. The defendant replied,” Officer is not me I doh know nothing about that I was in Stock Farm by my cousin”. Constable Ruskin Fontaine then informed the defendant that he was arresting him on suspicion of Malicious Damage. The defendant was transported to Police Headquarters and taken to the General investigation’s office.

Later that afternoon Constable Ruskin Fontaine invited the Complainant Erick Ogarro to the General Investigations Office to conduct a confrontation with the defendant Anderson Aldrine George. Constable Ruskin Fontaine reminded the defendant of the report that he was investigating and cautioned him. The defendant was also reminded of his right to have an Attorney of his choice present during the confrontation, and he opted to continue without his Attorney.

On Thursday 2nd February 2023 the defendant was informed by Constable Ruskin Fontaine that he was preferring a charge of Malicious Damage against him. The defendant was formerly cautioned and he replied, “I doh know about that it was not me”.
