High court Judge Showers praises on jurors

Jurors who deliberated during the September Session of the Criminal court have come in for high praises and commendation from high court Judge Her Ladyship Justice Wynante Adrien Roberts.

The Criminal Session of the court was closed on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, until January 2021.

“I want to thank you the jurors very much for your work especially those who sat on cases. Both panels did an excellent job and I hope that you truly learned from the experience gained in listening to the matters,” Justice Adrien Roberts stated.

She called on them to convince others so that when they are chosen to serve they will be very willing. “Some of you did have issues with serving, but from what I have seen, you have thoroughly enjoyed the experience and I hope that you will pass the knowledge gained to those outside,” she said.

She also thanked the rank and file of the police force, the bailiff, court staff, defense and prosecuting lawyers, and journalists who she said all played a major part during the Criminal Session.

Also showering praises and commendation on the jurors was Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Evalina Baptiste.

“We had a very fruitful session, and we appreciate the work of the jurors, you are an integral part of the wills of justice, and it was terrific to see that you took your oath seriously and did an excellent job,” she said.

The DPP also thanked the judge, police, staff of the DPP and court staff, lawyers, and all those she said who played a part in the “administration of justice in the Criminal Court.”
