Jason James Grogg detained at airport on Customs charges

United States national Jason James Grogg who was arrested on firearm and ammunition charges and was fined $25,000.00 and has since paid the fine after his guilty pleas was detained at the Douglas Charles airport today May 4, 2023, when he attempted to board a flight to Barbados.

Nature Isle News (NIN) can confirm, that Grogg who was remanded at the Stock Farm Prison pending the payment of the fine, was at the airport en route to Barbados when he was detained by Customs.

According to family officials, he was en route to the “US Consulate in Barbados” but was prevented from boarding the flight.

His family has expressed “shock and dismay” at the situation and says that his constitutional rights are being breached.

“Jason’s lawyer was here and has no charges from Customs. They are breaking a human rights constitutional law…no excuses from anyone, Jason better be at the US consulate tonight or back to his family. His dad and I are here on vacation, and we have seen them break constitutional law after constitutional law, the fine was paid,” Bertie told NIN.

A call by NIN to Comptroller of Customs Roderick Deschamps stated that ” This is a matter under investigation and I have nothing to say to you on the matter.”

NIN also called the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Sherma Dyrample but she was unable to shed much light on the matter.

Jason’s family remains concerned that after being in custody for over two weeks and being an inmate at the Dominica State Prison, the Customs authorities had enough time if they so wanted to institute Customs charges against him.

Calls to his lawyers Julian and Jaline Prevost have so far gone unanswered. His family also claims that several calls to his phone have gone “unanswered” and they have no idea of his whereabouts at this time.
