Delbert “Kazaka” Hazel can count his lucky stars after he heard from complainant Eric James that he was no longer interested in a matter of “malicious damage” allegedly committed to his vehicle back in 2020.
According to the facts, between December 29 and 30th 2020, Hazel is alleged to have damaged four (4) tires on vehicle registration number PQ878 belonging to James.
The cost of the damage to the tires is $1,720.00
Under sworn testimony, James told the court he was not threatened, beaten, or offered anything and he is making the decision of his “own free will.”
“I have reflected on the matter and as a true Christian, I have decided to forgive the individual and end the matter now, I was not threatened, beaten, or offered anything,” he said.
He also told the court that he was ill and after reflecting on his illness, he thought it best to forgive Hazel. He stated also that the time which has elapsed since the incident also played a part in his decision.
Before discharging Hazel, who is on remand for other matters, Magistrate Pearl Williams told him that he needed to “reflect on his life.”
“I am not saying that you committed the act, it’s an allegation and since you pleaded not guilty it was down for trial, but this gentleman says that he has forgiven you, if you know to yourself that you did this act, search your heart and go over to the gentlemen who has forgiven you and apologize to him,” she said.
Hazel, then under police escort, walked over to Eric James and said, “thank you very much for forgiving me, I am very sorry for my actions.”
“You need to reflect on your actions, think before you act…this matter is dismissed for want of prosecution,” the Magistrate stated.
