Protesters are gathered outside the Roseau Police Station where a group of police officers is stationed as they demand the release of Eldica John the sister of Salisbury MP Hector John.
In a FaceBook live post, John alleges that his sister Eldica John was “arrested for battery”.
“A police arrested my sister for battery…they better release her because they don’t want the unnecessary to happen. I am calling on the people of Salisbury to come to Roseau ASAP to deal with the matter,” John said.
“She is one of the walkers who are actively walking every week, knowing my sister, she will not touch a fly, my sister is an activist, she is not a criminal but stands for what she believes in.”
Reports surfacing alleges that John and a police officer were engaged in some confrontation next to Burton’s Electrical store on Kennedy Ave over the barricade set up by the police when the alleged incident happened.
After a few hours in police custody, and after being interrogated and processed, in the presence of her lawyer Geoffery Letang, she was formally charged with battery on a police officer and later granted bail of five thousand dollars with one surety to appear in court on September 09, 2022.
