DCA to strengthen Coaching capacity

The Dominica Cricket Association (DCA) is providing the opportunity for local cricket coaches to improve their skills and to gain regional certification. The local cricketing authority in collaboration with Cricket West Indies will stage a Level One coaching course in June 2023.

The course, which seeks to target individuals who are already involving in coaching at some level, but with no recognized certification as well as those who are interested in coaching the sport, will take place on June 17th and 18th, 2023.

Those interested in participating in this course may register at the Dominica Cricket Association’s secretariat on or before April 29th, 2023.

Prior to his elevation to the DCA presidency, Clement Marcellin, lamented the fact that many coaches on the island were not qualified. He further stated then, that the lack of knowledge by these coaches was hampering the development of the sport on the island.

A level once cricket coaching course targets candidates who are primarily above the age of 18 with a sound understanding of the game. The course duration is usually 18 hours. In order to be successful, candidates would need to acquire satisfactory grades in the theoretical exam as well as the practical evaluation.

The two day event will be facilitated by CWI accredited coaches
