Defending champions, Sagicor South East FC squandered a golden opportunity to extend their lead in the Dominica Football Association (DFA) Premier Division league.
In their opening encounter of the second round played on Saturday at the Benjamin Park in Portsmouth, South East failed to register their eighth win of the season after they wasted an excellent opportunity to do so.
Taking on 4th place Petro Caribe Pointe Michel FC, also in their first match of the second round, the defending champions got off to a flying start scoring three unanswered goals in the first half to enjoy a clear advantage going into the interval.
However, the second half of play belonged to Pointe Michel FC, which came back with three goals of their own in the second half of play to enjoy a share of the spoils.
Doing the scoring for the defending champions were national players Joslen Prince and Davon George with two goals and one goal respectively.
Petro Caribe Pointe Michel got one goal each from former national player Burt Casimir, Kiwan Toussaint, and Perry Charles.
In the other Premier Division encounter played on Saturday, second-place club WE United FC went down to former champions LA Enterprises Bombers FC by one goal to nil at the Almond Park in Dublanc.
The lone goal which separated the clubs was the conversion from the penalty spot by Jamie Parillon in the first half of play.
