Two times defending Premiere Division champions, Sagicor South East FC has signaled their intentions to make it three in a row. In their opening encounter of the Dominica Football Association Premiere Division league on Sunday at Benjamin Park in Portsmouth, the defending champions secured an emphatic four goals to-nil victory.
National player, Javed George found the back of the net twice as his club easily brushed aside LA Enterprises Bombers FC by four goals to nil. National under-20 player Adriel Lawrence added one goal. The other goal came from the boots of Randell Prince. Javed George was named the player of the game.
The defeat signaled the second in as many matches for the Bombers FC who went down by three goals to two in their opening encounter against Connect 767 East Central FC.
In the other scheduled encounter on Sunday, Middleham United FC and Connect 767 East Central FC played to a one-all stalemate at Almond Park in Dublanc in a keenly contested affair. Clemson Issac opened the scoring for Middleham United FC in the 42nd minute of play to give his club that all-important one-nil advantage heading into the interval. East Central FC found the equalizer 12 minutes into the second half via the own-goal route. East Central FC failed to convert a penalty. Clemson Issac was named the player of the game. Both clubs are now on four points at the top of the table after securing victory in their opening encounter.
On Saturday, Central Cooperative Credit Union Dublanc FC make full use of home advantage as they came from one goal to nil to defeat Petro Caribe Pointe Michel FC by four goals to one. Player of the game Felix Anselm netted three goals and the other came goal came from the head of Myrric Shillingford. Donte Warrington scored for Pointe Michel FC. Pointe Michel FC has now lost both encounters played.
Also on Saturday, Valvoline WE United FC and LA Starz played to a one-all draw at Benjamin Park. Ridge Blaize scored for LA Starz FC while Fabio Drigo took his tally of goals to four when he converted in the second half of play. Ridge Blaize was named the player of the game. With the draw, WE United FC moved to four points at the top of the table.
On Friday, Promex Harlem went down to Blue Waters Bath Estate FC by two goals to one. Eustace Phillip and Montel James scored for the winners. Audel Laville scored for Harlem. This was the second defeat for Harlem in as many games.
