Dominica’s Health Minister Dr. Irvin McIntyre has disclosed that the Caribbean Public Health Agency (CARPHA) has been asked to determine if the deadly Omicron variant is in Dominica.
Samples he said have been recently sent to CARPHA for testing.
“When we get positive cases, we normally send them to CARPHA and CARPHA sends them to the University of the West Indies in Jamaica and that is where sequencing takes place,” he said.
“All the cases that we sent to them in December have been returned and tested as Delta…we sent some more cases and so we are waiting for the results.”
