The police are investigating a suspected case of drowning in Calibishie. According to a report reaching Nature Isle News (NIN), the body of a male individual was fished out of the water on the Calibishie beach.
The police in Dominica have released the name of the body of the man that was retrieved from the waters in Calibishie on August 9, 2021.
According to Police Public Relations Officer (PRO) Inspector John Carbon, the victim is Martin Otway, a 65-year-old Grenadian national who resided in the community of Marigot.
He revealed that at about 2:30 p.m. on the said date (on August 9, 2021) villagers of Calibishie fished out a male body from the sea dressed in a diving suit.
“The police were contacted and they then summoned the District Medical Officer (DMO) who pronounced the body dead at the scene,” Carbon said.
He disclosed that Otway’s body has been transported to the North Eastern Funeral Association (NEFA) parlour pending a post mortem. A coroner’s inquest has since been conveyed.
