Family, friends, and well wishes gathered at the St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Goodwill on Friday, August 19, 2022, for the funeral mass of the late Rueben Kesketh Casimir the former Dominica Music Lovers Government Band Master.
Casimir died on July 31, 2022, at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital (DCFH) at the ripe age of 103 years.
Born on Hillsborough Street, Roseau on 30th October 1918, to Roselia Nicholas of Roseau and Wilfred Casimir of Trafalgar, Hesketh is best known for his extraordinary service to Dominica through the Music Lovers Government Band that he helped create in June 1951 and led as Band Master for more than 36 years.
Fr. Charles Martin was the main celebrant at the funeral mass. After the funeral mass, led by the Music Lovers Government Bank and a platoon of police officers, they marched through the streets of Roseau to the Roseau Catholic Cemetery where his remains were laid to rest.
