Former Dominica and Windwards Cricketer battling illness at hospital

Former Dominica and Windwards all rounder Mervin Durand is a patient at the Dominica China Friendship Hospital battling illness.

Mervin Durand (born 27 August 1960) is a Dominican cricketer. He played in one List A and four first-class matches for the Windward Islands from 1989 to 1991.

Durand is best remembered for his 7/15 against the England touring team who played the Windwards in St. Lucia.

Speaking to Nature Isle News (NIN) from his hospital bed, he remembered that day, but as he struggles to come to terms with his illness he is asking for prayers on his behalf. He also informed our reporter that he has been at the hospital for the past two months.

The Management and staff of NIN and the Dominican and regional cricketing fraternity wishes Durand a speedy recovery.
