Wayne James and Hilary Shillingford were sworn in as commissioners on the Electoral Commission of Dominica.
The two members took their oath before President of Dominica Charles Savarin today Monday, August 24, 2020.
By letter dated August 11, 2020, Leader of the Opposition Lennox Linton informed the President that in accordance with sections 56 (1) and 56 (3) (c) of the Dominica Constitution he advises that Wayne James and Hilary Shillingford be appointed as members of the Electoral Commission.
Both men were also part of the Electoral Commission before the December 2019 general elections.
The two government nominees are expected to take the oath on August 25, 2020, and the chairperson appointed by the President will also be sworn in. Reports are that Gerald Burton who chaired that commission for a number of years has declined to return.
