Peter Alleyne appointed Director of legal Aid Dominica

Prominent Dominica lawyer Peter Alleyne has taken up a job with the government of Dominica effective September 1, 2020, that announcement was made by Minister for National Security Rayburn Blackmoore.

According to Blackmoore, the post of Director of Legal Aid in Dominica will be filled by Peter Alleyne.

Blackmoore stated that access to justice, irrespective of someone’s economic and social background is a critical element to the rule of law and fair access to justice for all Dominicans, has always been the preoccupation of the Dominica Labour Party (DLP) government throughout the years.

The Legal Aid Clinic he said was established to offer legal assistance to Dominicans who cannot afford private attorneys.

“The Dominica Legal Aid Clinic has and continues to offer support and assistance to many disadvantaged Dominicans, in divorce matters, land transfers, land dispute matters, custody and family court matters among others,” Blackmoore said.

Alleyne he said is “highly respected in his field and is held in high esteem by all who knows him.”

“I am confident, that Mr. Alleyne will bring the prestige and wealth of knowledge befitting to such an office. Under his stewardship, a review of the services and fee structure will be undertaken,” he said.

  1. Congratulations are in order Sir. Take the “bull by the horn” and perform in excellence, bear the burden of the weak, laugh with those who laugh, and weep with those who weep. Feel the pain of those in sorrow, shelter the homeless, and cover the naked, for in so doing you would have fulfilled your purpose. Blessings! and I pray unprecedented favour over you. God Bless You.
