Police Chief concerned about the upsurge of gun-related matters

Dominica’s police Chief Daniel Carbon is expressing concerns about the upsurge of gun-related matters now in Dominica.

“Our greatest concern is the issue of gun-related matters now in the country, last year 2019, we had 10 murders as compared 11 in 2018 and so far this year (2020) we have ten (10), Carbon said.

“We also have concerns about robberies which are also of major concerns to us, in 2018 we had 69 robberies and in 2019 we had 86…sexual offenses is an issue and we are always investigating them

According to Carbon, in 2018, Dominica had less amount of crime in 20 years both serious and summary/minor matters.  “In that year we had 926 indictable matters and in 2019 we had 870 serious crimes,” he said.

He said that the police are working hard to protect life and property and solve crimes in the country. He is also calling the general public to assist and work with the police where possible to solve crimes.
